Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils (which come from different parts of plants), to enhance physical health and emotional well-being. Their use has been traced back to the Egyptians and research shows they possess many useful properties including being anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory and relaxing. Our olfactory process (our ability to smell) is closely linked to the brain and this is how they affect us emotionally.
Clients tell me they have a massage for all sorts of reasons such as:
- Aching shoulders
- Backache
- Painful neck
- Insomnia
- Headaches
- Muscular aches and pains
- Relaxation
- Feeling sluggish
- To manage emotional issues such as stress, anxiety, grief, change, lack of confidence and low self-esteem
After an aromatherapy massage, not only will you smell nice, but you should feel a sense of well-being too. You may see some benefits in your overall health and well-being e.g. feeling taller, looser, straighter, less achy, relaxed or rejuvenated. Your skin may be glowing (due to improved circulation), and your mood lifted. It’s likely that you will sleep very well that night. Your aromatherapy blend will always be tailor made for you each time you visit and may change according to your needs. I only use organic or wild crafted essential oils which are high grade therapeutic essential oils (this eliminates any concerns about pesticide residue) and ensures you have top quality oils.

Frequently asked questions
Why should you come to me for an aromatherapy massage?
I’m highly qualified (I’m a professional Clinical Aromatherapist) with nearly 10 years’ experience. I’m a member of the International federation or Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA) which has the highest training standards in the industry. I pride myself on using organic / wild crafted essential oils and carrier oils meaning you get the best therapeutic quality in the products I use. I always provide aftercare advice and ideas to promote your well-being and can advise you on how you can use aromatherapy at home. Overall my aim is for you to have a bespoke, professional, high quality massage. I aim to create a warm, relaxing environment where your health and well-being is taken care of.
What can I expect?
The first time I see someone I do an initial FREE confidential consultation. This includes a full medical history and questions about your general well-being. Thereafter it’s important that you mention any changes in your health and well-being however small they may seem. Your massage will be tailor made for you at each appointment, according to your preferences and time of day. You will be covered in towels to afford privacy at all times, the only part of you not covered is the area I am massaging. It is essential you wear underwear. If you are having a facial you will also have a free skincare consultation.
What do I need to do after my massage?
After your massage drink plenty of water, try to relax or avoid stressful situations, avoid caffeine and alcohol. If it is a sunny day, remember you will be covered in oil so be safe in the sun and cover up with sun cream before exposure. Some essential oils are photo toxic. If you have an aromatherapy massage this will be explained to you.
Do you do pregnancy aromatherapy massage?
Yes! It’s important for Mum’s to be to look after themselves during this special time. During pregnancy many women find that they may have backache, puffy ankles, difficulty sleeping etc. and a massage may help with this. I am unable to do massage for anyone in their first trimester, and will ask some questions about this pregnancy and others you have had, before I see you. On occasion I may need to liaise with midwives and others involved in your care. I can also provide post natal massage (after your 6 week check).

How can I use aromatherapy at home and work?
You can buy essential oils and use these at home through various methods – inhalation, vaporisation, in the bath etc. Essential oils should never be ingested or added neat to the skin as they are highly concentrated substances.
